Chefs in the Classroom @ Garrison Union Free School with chef Shelley Boris
Last Thursday, March 29th, Shelley and Chelsea took a trip down to Garrison School for the Chefs in the Classroom program. We taught Mrs. Green and Miss Timmons' kindergarteners all about onions, carrots, turnips and parsnips. We wrapped up with a tasty demonstration on how to make a delicious and simple onion dip (see the recipe below to make some yourself!).
A great time was had by all! Thanks to Mrs. Green, Miss Timmons, and all the kindergarteners for such a fun morning.
2 large onions
3 Tablespoons vegetable oil
Salt to taste
1/2-2 cups sour cream
1.) Heat the oil over medium heat, add onions and cook for 15 minutes or longer, stirring frequently until the onions are very soft and brown.
2.) Cool the onions and mix with 1/2-2 cups of sour cream.
3.) Serve with potato chips or fresh veggie chips.
